MSG - Round 7 - Results

With a balmy climate, and a smaller paleton, there were few opportunities for attacks this week, so the group held reasonably tight up the first climb. The idiot on the singlespeed went off with a bang, but was quickly caught and past by his granny gear brethren. Regrouping was had at a few key flateaus and the first hydration stop was decantered at the social hub that is the 15.

Other local legends were spotted and yarns where spun.

Before the riders new it yarns had spun off on wild tangents and the ship needed to be righted with the main sail hoisted and a starboard direction maintained.

Early mentioned singlespeed riders jumped the restart and held an impressive pace up and along the tranverse, the hoppy triple IPA had lubed the gears and a flow state was engaged.

Regrouping was had at witch’s hill, and this is were the first seeds of a reroute/ mutiny were felt. Another fast and teeth rattling descent saw riders at the top of the rapiki track and this is where the master of the ship, checked the charts, saw a storm a brewing and made the call to reroute back up and over for a direct descent down huntsbury Dh and via coronation Park to have the vessel arrive in Port before customs called.

A quick and hot and heavy tar seal climb and the ship ready to door anchor and skid its way to the old air strip.

Here ballest was shed in the form of consuming carried liquids and a right old nutter was had, all parties agreed “how good” is just sitting around gassing about this and that.

But the time was checked and tide was out so port needed to be accessed before it changed.

A short rattle and bounce had the team bombing tar seal and a little remind of staying left was had with a close call with an inbound vessel.

A narrower “short cut” passage was spotted and some roots and stairs were cleared to access the valley floor.

It was then a quick flat sail into moon for our cards to be swapped and more ballast to be added to each crew member.

No DQs this week but Phil came close and was only saved by the over ruling DNS card.

MVP is a shared honor between Richard and James who both managed to cover more of the route, potentially more vert, made it to port first despite a late start.

Honorable mention to Andy for some absolute insane yarns with twists and turns and mid sentence plot and overall context changes.
